Daniel F. Carvalho

About Daniel

Daniel earned his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry with a Minor in Biology from the Faculty of Science, University of Lisbon, in 2023. His undergraduate research centred on the synthesis of a novel ruthenium-based organometallic complex with potential applications in breast cancer treatment. That same year, he began his Master’s degree in Chemistry at the University of Lisbon.

During his Master’s, Daniel was awarded a research grant to develop an innovative electrochemical method for the synthesis of hypervalent iodine reagents. He also served as a teaching monitor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, supporting undergraduate teaching and laboratory instruction.

In March 2025, Daniel joined the Lam Research Group to deepen his expertise in electrochemistry, with a particular focus on electrochemical fluorination (e-fluorination) reactions.

In addition to his academic and research achievements, Daniel was elected President of the Chemistry and Biochemistry Students’ Union during his undergraduate studies, demonstrating his leadership and commitment to student engagement.
